Patterns of Connection Workshop with Prita Tina Yeganeh

FreeWorkshopsVisual Art
Presented by Brisbane Festival

Create your own visual language. A hands-on introduction to visual storytelling and collective making.

Drawing on her Iranian heritage, Prita’s art practice explores pattern-making, migration, community and belonging. In this workshop, participants are invited to co-create a visual language exploring personal and collective relationships to place.

Participants will create a simple symbol or motif inspired by something they notice, value or feel connected to in their surrounding environment. Using pre-cut geometric shapes and optional hand-drawn marks, each person will design a symbol representing a plant, animal, texture, pattern or other element of nature.

As each motif is added to a shared community board, it becomes part of a growing visual language. Individually, each symbol reflects a personal observation or connection; together, the motifs form a collective story of place, revealing the many ways a community experiences and relates to its local environment.

Suitable for ages 10 and over, the workshop requires no previous art experience and offers a welcoming, hands-on introduction to visual storytelling through collective making.
